Bellandur Lake at Bengaluru is very toxic and you can actually see foam and flames in it which is the outcome of its being city’s most polluted river. Contaminated water includes phosphate and ammonia in high amount plus amount of dissolved oxygen being much less produces foam. What’s more, you can get an idea of how toxic it is through the fact that the river often catches fire on account of detergents, grease, oil etc.

As reported by LA Times in June, “Bangalore was “choking from illegal construction, unregulated dumping, official mismanagement and mounting waste.”
