Team India put up a great show against Australia in the Super Eight match which was played yesterday at Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia and confirmed their place in the semi-finals by winning the match by 24 runs.
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was the Player of the Match for his superb knock of 92 runs for which he played only 41 deliveries. His innings included 7 fours & 8 sixes and he helped his team in putting up a total of 205/5 on the scoreboard.
Rohit Sharma remained unaffected even after India lost Virat Kohli, he was in full flow as he smashed Mitchell Starc for 28 runs in an over (29 with a wide) and completed his fifty in just 19 balls. But he missed his century by 8 runs and when he was asked about missing the chance to score a ton, he recalled the last time when he spoke in the match presentation. He said that he has already stated in the last match presentation that 100s and 50s don’t matter to him. He added that he just wanted to bat with the same tempo, play shots whenever there is a chance and pressurise the bowlers.
He further said that he just wished to carry on and play a big innings but also wanted the bowlers to keep guessing where he would play the next shot and he succeeded in doing that. Rohit Sharma further said that he also managed to play shots in all corners of the stadium and not just on one side.
Now India will face England in the second semi-final on 27 June at Guyana cricket stadium and hopefully we are going to lift the trophy this time.
