Recently, the Indian team won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and now India is looking forward to win the 3-match ODI series against Australia. The series is leveled at 1-1 and the final ODI of the series will be played tomorrow at M.A. Chidambram Stadium, Chennai.

Rohit Sharma has an excellent track record in the IPL as well, the IPL team Mumbai Indians has won 5 titles under his leadership but Rohit didn’t start his IPL journey with MI, his journey in the league started in 2008 with Deccan Chargers (now defunct) and he also played an important role in the IPL of the Hyderabad franchise in 2009.

Rohit Sharma was bought by DC for $750,000 in the IPL 2008 auction and recently he was asked as to what he was thinking after getting bought by DC. Rohit said that the first thing which he didn’t know was how much was actually $750,000. He added that the auction never took place earlier and nobody was aware of it, his number came quite late in the IPL auction, almost one and a half hour later.

He further said that after getting sold, he was told that he has been bought for $750,000 (Rs. 3 crore or 3.5 crore), he was very happy and was thinking which car he should purchase. Rohit Sharma stated that he was just 20 yrs old at that time and he was planning to buy a new car.

DC won the IPL 2009 and in 2011, Rohit Sharma was bought by MI for $2 million and he never looked back after getting the captaincy in 2013. MI has won the IPL in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020, but in the last season, MI was at the bottom of the points table.

Let’s see how MI will perform in the IPL 2023.
