Just days before the new IPL season kicks into full gear, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been hit with a major setback and it’s not due to injury or form.
The team’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, confirmed that fast bowler Yash Dayal will not be joining the squad for the IPL 2026. His absence had already raised questions after he missed the team camp on March 18 and did not attend any sessions afterward.

While the rest of the squad, including captain Rajat Patidar, Krunal Pandya, Jitesh Sharma, Suyash Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, continued preparations under coach Andy Flower, Yash Dayal’s situation remained unclear until now.
Mo Bobat explained that the pacer is currently dealing with a personal matter and after discussions, it was decided that staying away from the squad is best for both – Yash Dayal and the team. He also clarified that the franchise has been supportive and remains in regular contact with the player.
Importantly, Yash Dayal is still under contract, as the team had chosen to retain him earlier and continues to stand by that decision for now.

The situation comes amid serious allegations against Yash Dayal, including claims of s*xual exploitation made by two girls, one of whom is reportedly a minor. Though the franchise has not commented in detail on the accusations, they confirmed ongoing communication with him.
Mo Bobat also made it clear that the team will not be sharing further updates at this stage but will continue to support the player as he deals with his situation.
Despite the setback, the management remains confident, stating that the squad has enough depth to cope with his absence this season.
