2010 was the beginning of a decade that was going to be engulfed in social media and digital content. Beginning with Facebook, we got to see several online platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype, and Twitter which garnered a devoted fan following.
In mid-2010, a man like us was fascinated with the concept of Facebook. With thousands of posts updating everyday, Facebook was no less than a charm of that time. Shahid Ansari was a sales executive at that time. He saw the potential for humorous contents that went viral on Facebook everyday.
That was the time when Rajnikanth had just starred in Enthiran. It was also the time when CID was at its peak and Daya breaking doors was a simp moment for everyone. So, Shahid with his creative mind decided to connect the two together in an agonistic style- Rajnikanth vs CID jokes. This was how RVCJ was born. Shahid was one of the founding members of RVCJ Digital Media.
Talking about his initial journey, Shahid told The Hindu, “We reached 20,000 followers in a very quick time. Initially, I used to post only text-based jokes. However, the follower count had started to stagnate. Around this time, Ankit Mor, one of the followers, messaged and asked if he could contribute. Ankit knew the workings of Facebook algorithms and was a professional at creating memes. With his help, our reach expanded and we decided to set up a website.”
Over the years, the RVCJ team has been dedicated to creating humorous memes and funny videos to keep their followers laughing. Today, almost a decade after RVCJ, the brainchild of a bunch of creative people, was first started, we have garnered 48 million followers. Here is a look at some of the highlights of our milestone-
