Sacked Indian Selector Makes Sensational Revelations Including Virat Kohli’s Removal

The Indian cricket is going through a tough phase as the Indian cricket team failed in making it to the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup and got knocked out by England in a humiliating manner as the English side defeated the Indian squad by 10 wickets in the semi-finals. Though team India performed well in the bilateral series yet in multi-nation events, it failed in making any impact; just before the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, it was not able to enter the finals of the Asia Cup 2022.

A lot has happened in the couple of years as many experiments were done, 8 cricketers headed the Indian team but what made many cricket fans angry with the selectors was sacking of Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacked the whole selection committee which was headed by the former Indian cricketer Chetan Sharma. This decision was praised by numerous Indian cricket fans but one former selection member of the sacked selection committee gave an interview on the condition of anonymity and made some really sensational claims.

The ousted former selector stated that the BCCI may have made them look as completely responsible for everything but they should take the blame as well. He further said that the decision related to captaincy was not taken just by the selectors only as there was interference from the board on a regular basis. He added that though the rotation policy was sent to the selectors as an advice yet it was logical so they implemented it and now the board is blaming them for having 8 skippers in a time period of 9 months.

The former selector went on to say that he would not take any name but the decision of going with a new skipper in all the formats was not taken by merely the selectors. As per him, few selectors wanted Virat Kohli to continue as the Indian team’s skipper till 2023 World Cup but he was removed as majority of the board members did not support different captains in different formats.

The ousted former selector justified the decision of having 8 skippers as it was important to rotate and give rest to senior players, especially because Rohit Sharma was leading the team in all the formats at the age of 35 yrs. He further said that KL Rahul was also out of the team due to injury so it was quite obvious that they chose the player who was next in the line for becoming the skipper.

If the reports are to be believed, the BCCI is looking forward to bring some big changes in the Indian team as Hardik Pandya may lead the squad in the shortest format even after the New Zealand tour and he may replace Rohit Sharma. It is being said that the board is also planning to rope in the former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni in order to reduce the burden of head coach Rahul Dravid.

Let’s see what happens in the future and whether these changes will help team India in winning a multi-nation event or the Indian cricketers will be known as the new chokers of International cricket. What do you think?
