Ever since Sakshi Malik, the wrestling champion has won the bronze medal for India at Rio Olympics, she is flooded with congratulatory messages and felicitations.
Moreover, she has also got a cash prize of whopping Rs 3.30 crores out of which 2.5 crores is given by Haryana Government, 20 lakhs is from Indian Olympic Association and 60 lakhs is from Indian Railways. Well, Sakshi has got one more prize which must have definitely brought a smile to her face. Yes, Air India has given a special gift to the champion.
Air India addressed a letter to Sakshi saying that they are very happy and proud on her achievement. They have given her 2 return business class air tickets. You might think what is so special in that, isn’t it? But wait, let us explain the special reason behind it.
In some recent interview, Sakshi had stated that it was her dream to travel by a plane and hence, she wished to become a sports person to be able to fulfill her dream. Air India respects this dream of hers and as a token of appreciation; they offered her 2 return business class tickets, one for her and another for her companion. This is valid for 1 year and she can choose any 2 destinations on Air India Network.
This letter was signed by the Managing Director and Chairman of Air India, Ashwani Lohani who said “I recently read your statement…and was indeed touched by the same,”
