A tense moment during the second ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Dhaka quickly became one of the most talked about incidents of the match. The controversy unfolded when Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha was run out in unusual fashion by Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, leaving players and fans debating the spirit of the game.

The incident occurred during Pakistan’s innings when Mohammad Rizwan drove the ball straight back towards the non-striker’s end. Mehidy Hasan Miraz moved forward in his follow-through to field the ball, while Salman Agha was outside his crease and standing in the same area.
As Mehidy Hasan Miraz tried to stop the ball with his right boot, the two players accidentally collided. In the brief confusion that followed, Salman Agha attempted to pick up the ball, seemingly intending to return it. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz reacted instantly, throwing the ball underarm at the stumps.
Bangladesh appealed for a run-out. The on-field umpire referred the decision to the TV umpire, who eventually confirmed that Salman Agha was out. The decision triggered an angry reaction from the Pakistan batter who threw his helmet and gloves in frustration after exchanging words with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Speaking later about the incident, Salman Agha acknowledged that Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s action was technically within the rules of cricket. However, he suggested that if he had been in Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s position, he would have handled the situation differently. According to him, he personally believes such situations should sometimes be judged by the spirit of the game rather than just the laws.
Salman Agha also explained why he didn’t initially think he could be dismissed. He said the ball had first hit his pad and then his bat, which led him to believe the ball was dead. Because of that, he assumed Mehidy Hasan Miraz would not attempt a run-out and he was simply trying to return the ball rather than take a run.
The Pakistan batter also tried to downplay the heated exchange that followed the dismissal. He admitted that emotions were running high in the moment, which led to sharp words being exchanged between him and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

During the aftermath, Salman Agha also had a brief but intense verbal exchange with Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das. Reflecting on it later, he said neither of them probably said anything particularly nice to each other but it was purely due to the tension of the moment.
Despite the fiery scenes on the field, Salman Agha indicated that there are no lingering issues, suggesting that both the teams have moved on from the incident.
