Sangeet Som is one the rising politicians of BJP from the state of Uttar Pradesh, he was in news recently for giving speeches which can incite emotions in Bisara, the village where Mohammad Akhlaq was killed on the basis of suspicion that he ate cow meat.
However, as per the reports of Hindustan Times, Sangeet Som had purchased land in 2005 for meat processing unit in Aligarh. The documents comprise the registry of land, and other documents show that Sangeet was the Director of Al Dua Food Processing Private Limited till March 2008. The other directors of the firm were while purchasing land was with Moinuddin Qureshi and Yogesh Rawat.
The documents show that Som, who was among the directors of Al Dua Food Processing Private Limited along with Moinuddin Qureshi and Yogesh Rawat till March 2008, bought the land for the company.
Sangeet told Hindustan Times that he had purchased land some years ago but he had no knowledge of being the director of the company. He told to HT, “I purchased the land which was sold to Al Dua Food Processing Private Limited after a few months,” however he maintained that purchasing a land doesn’t held him responsible for setting up of meat factory.
He further added, “I am a Hindu hardliner hence there is no chance of getting involved in activities which are against my religion,” in fact he claim to quit the politics if his role is established in setting up of the meat factory.
The annual report of Al Dua for the year 2007 shows that from Dec 12, 2005, Sangeet was the director of the company and when the land was purchased on Dec 26, 2005, he was serving as a director. Sangeet resigned from the position in March 2008.
Al Dua’s website states about itself as a, “leading producer and exporter of halal meat from India” and a specialist in the export of “quality halal buffalo, sheep/lamb, goat meat and hides”.
Sangeet alleged that SP leader Atul Pradhan is the one who is creating controversies as he said, “He had created a similar controversy ahead of the state assembly elections in order to tarnish my image.”
He also stated that all the allegations levelled against him were found baseless when the matter was probed by the district administration. Sangeet is also accused for the riots of Muzaffarnagar in 2013.
