The IPL team Rajasthan Royals had a great campaign in the IPL 2022 and though it lost the finals to Gujarat Titans still the manner in which it performed in this season has impressed every cricket fan. RR didn’t get the chance of entering the play-offs, leave aside reaching the finals because for the last couple of seasons, it was at the bottom of the points table.
Sanju Samson was appointed as the skipper of RR in the year 2021 after the franchise decided to release its former skipper Steve Smith and it won’t be wrong to say that Sanju has developed a lot as a leader in just two seasons. Sanju Samson was praised a lot for his captaincy, batting as well as wicket-keeping and there was a huge uproar when he was not selected for the T20I series against South Africa as fans believed that he should have been in the team after such a good performance in the IPL 2022.
The magnificent manner in which RR performed in the league can be understood by the fact that both Orange cap holder and Purple cap holder were from the Rajasthan team. RR batter Jos Buttler was the highest run getter of the tournament as he scored 863 runs in the 17 matches plus record of hitting the most number of sixes and fours in this season is also in his name which has made him the most suitable candidate for the Most Valuable Player award. Yuzvendra Chahal, RR spinner, won the Purple cap award as he took 27 wickets in the tournament.
Recently a video was posted on the official Twitter handle of RR in which Sanju Samson was seen giving a speech in front of his teammates and other support staff. The RR skipper thanked everyone including Kumar Sangakkara – Director of cricket, RR, his teammates and the support staff but he also pulled leg of his teammate Shimron Hetmyer for having dinner at that time. Sanju Samson said that he might have made some bad decisions but he must have taken some good decisions as well and he is certainly growing as a leader.
He thanked everyone for supporting him in the decisions taken by him and in the end, he pulled Shimron Hetmyer’s leg by saying, “And Hettie, thanks for eating that dinner while I am giving a great speech.”
The expression given by Shimron Hetmyer was really funny and it left everyone in splits.
