Recently, he once again gave enough fodder to online users for trolling him as in an interview, he said that he wanted to fight against India in the Kargil war. In the video, he is seen saying that people should have no doubt on his patriotism. He goes on to say that not many people are aware of the fact that at that time, he was signed by county team Nottingham County Club and in 2002, he was signed for even a bigger amount but when the war started, he came to Lahore.

He further said that he was on the outskirts of Lahore when Haji General came and asked him why he was here. He said that if they di*d, he would also d*e and they would see everyone together. He added that he also called his friends in Kashmir and asked them to be ready with whatever weapons they had as the war had started. Shoaib Akhtar also talked about the Balakot strike which India did in response to the Pulwama attack and said that he was in huge tension at that time and his wife requested him not to take so much tension.
