When Dhurandhar hit theatres, few could have predicted just how big it would become. Directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh, the film has grown into a full-blown box office phenomenon, continuing its strong run weeks after release. While the action, scale and storytelling have drawn crowds, another powerful story has quietly emerged alongside the film’s success – the rise of television actors on the big screen.

The film boasts a large and diverse ensemble cast, featuring not just established film stars but also familiar faces from television. Actors like Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera and Rakesh Bedi have received praise for their performances, proving that talent translates seamlessly across mediums when given the right platform. Their presence has sparked conversations about how television actors are finally getting opportunities they were long denied.

Actor Aasif Sheikh, who has shared screen space with Saumya Tandon in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, recently spoke warmly about the performances delivered by his fellow TV actors in Dhurandhar. He believes the film represents a major turning point. According to him, television actors were often unfairly boxed into a category, facing hesitation and judgment when stepping into films or even OTT projects. That invisible barrier, he feels, is now beginning to break.
He also highlighted the strong work ethic that television actors bring with them. Having grown up in an industry where long hours, tight schedules and consistency are the norm, TV actors are trained to stay disciplined and focused. He opines that their commitment, sincerity and professionalism come from years of experience where giving less than one’s best simply is not an option. That mindset, he believes, clearly reflects on screen.
Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh in the lead role, supported by a powerful lineup that includes Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan along with Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera, Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Naveen Kaushik and others. The blend of film and television talent has added depth and variety to the narrative, helping the film connect with a wider audience.
With the first part still drawing crowds, excitement is already building for Dhurandhar 2, set to release on March 19, 2026. The sequel will face stiff competition at the box office, clashing with Yash’s Toxic. But if the first film is any indication, Dhurandhar has already reshaped more than just box office records — it has rewritten perceptions.
