The IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad had a nightmarish IPL as they ended at the bottom of the points table with just 4 wins in the 14 matches and one of the biggest reasons of their failure was their bowling. SRH or Orange Army is usually known for their bowling attack but in this season, their bowling was lackluster and their sensational pacer Umran Malik who created waves in the international community as well because of his fierce bowling also failed in taking wickets for his team.
Umran Malik took 22 wickets in the last season but in the IPL 2023, he took only 5 wickets in the 8 matches that he played and he was criticized for his poor bowling performances by the former cricketers and cricket experts.
Recently, the former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag appeared on a cricket show on which he talked about Umran Malik’s bowling. As per Viru paaji, the problem with Umran Malik’s bowling is that his length keeps on changing as he is not much experienced as of now. Nawab of Najafgarh says that though the youngster from Jammu & Kashmir is working with former South African pacer Dale Steyn on his bowling, still he hasn’t been able to get the length of Dale Steyn and has been making the same mistakes which he was making last year.
The cricketer turned politician Manoj Tiwary says that not much can be said about Umran Malik’s bowling as he hasn’t played many matches. Tiwary further talked about the incident in which SRH skipper Aiden Markram went for toss and when he was asked as to why Umran Malik was not playing, the skipper made a weird comment, he said that he had no idea regarding this and in Tiwary’s opinion, Malik may have seen that in recording and it must have had an adverse effect on his confidence.
Manoj Tiwary adds that the youngster has great pacer like Dale Steyn to learn from and if he is able to catch his length, then he will be a lethal pacer. Tiwary suggests Umran Malik to keep things simple, bowl back-off length and with this, he may be able to make a comeback.
