The performance of Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World T20 raised many questions on Shahid Afridi’s capabilities. Although the start to this tournament was good with the team winning against Bangladesh, nothing good came post that.
Successive losses to New Zealand, Australia and India saw Pakistan crash out and Afridi’s place was put under speculations. Shahid, who enjoys worldwide fans stated that he would decide about the retirement after he is back home.
All throughout his career, Shahid has been a complete entertainer. However, is it right to blame the captain this way? Well, it is not only the duty of the captain, but is the duty of the team as well to perform well. This is not only his fault. Everyone is aware as to how the team has played cricket.
However, Afridi made is quite clear to the board and the selectors that they need to promote talent in schools, as there, they would get good players. He also stated that in this tournament, there were no stand out performers and the leader himself apologized to the fans for letting them down.
