The Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is certainly one of the best pacers of the present times and the 33 years old cricketer was conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award recently for this contribution to Indian cricket.

Mohammed Shami performed brilliantly in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as he took 24 wickets in 7 matches and played an important role in taking his team to the finals of the World Cup which India lost to Australia. Mohammed Shami was not a part of the Indian squad for the first four matches but he got the chance to play after Hardik Pandya got injured and Shami used this opportunity to the maximum.

The Indian fans would have loved to see him bowling in the 5-match test series against England but the pacer has missed the first two test matches and he doesn’t seem to play in the remaining test matches due to his ankle injury.

Mohammed Shami recently attended an event in which he was asked to name the best batter of the world at the present time. He showed no hesitation in calling Virat Kohli the best batter and added that Virat has broken many records. He feels that while Virat Kohli is the best batter of the world, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous batter of the world.

Mohammed Shami has played under the captaincy of both Virat and Rohit and understands their game to a good extent.

During the event, Mohammed Shami also talked about growth of the Indian pacers in the ICC ODI World Cup. He said that people talk a lot about the bowling performance of the Indian bowlers in the World Cup 2023 but if you have to look at the overall picture, then people need to go back to 2013 and 2014 because that is from where the journey started. He said that if we focus on the fact now, then India has played with only three pacers in the World Cup and this makes them believe that they have set high standards for the future Indian bowlers.

As far as the 5-match test series between India and England is concerned, it is poised at 1-1 and the third test match will be played at Rajkot from 15 Feb.
