Shiney Ahuja Takes Legal Action Against The Maker Of ‘Great Grand Masti’

Weeks ago, it was quite shocking to see that a movie like ‘Great Grand Masti’ was getting a clearance from the Censor Board whereas a movie like Udta Punjab was struggling hard to hit the silver screen. ‘Great Grand Masti’ movie is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Maruti International which is indeed headed by Ekta Kapoor, Jeetendra Kapoor, Inder Kumar.

Somewhere deep inside their heart, they were definitely having a smirky smile while the whole drama was taking place over the Udta Punjab Issue.

But Karma has its own way to bite you. On Thursday, 14 July 2016, a day before the movie release, little did they know that they would be getting into trouble.

At first the movie leaked out in Internet before its schedule, and secondly, after millions of people watched it, Shiney Ahuja was the one who took the offence and filled a case against the makers of Great Grand Masti.

The reason declared by Shiney Ahuja for filling a case against them is for naming a movie character after his name. The character is reportedly played by actress Sonali Raut.

A source in the legal firm (that has sent the notice to the makers of the film) has made a statement stating that naming the maid as ‘Shiney’ seems to be a quirky take on the infamous rape case of maid where Shiney Ahuja was accused of raping her.

Shiney’s advocate has explained that the conduct of the producers of the movie at this juncture constitutes Criminal Contempt as defined under Section 2(c) of the Contempt of Court Act 1971.

“The name of the maid, ‘Shiney’, and the actors trying to find some masti with her in the movie Great Grand Masti will have greater ramification and impact on the mind of the viewer and will tend to curtail or impair the freedom of the limbs of the judicial proceedings,” the notice states.

Shiney Ahuja was convicted in March 2011 by a Mumbai court and was sentenced to seven and a half years of jail for raping his maid at his home in 2009. The actor had filed the appeal in 2012 when his lawyer sought expeditious hearing. The maid had retracted her statement later.

The hearing of appeal is in progress before the Bombay High Court.

According to reliable sources, the movie was released on over more than 1550 screens throughout the India. The movie opened on an average note of 15% to 20% at the box office. The first day collection of the adult comedy flick is Rs.2.50 crore net approx

Tell us what do you think about the whole case. Was it too much from Shiney Ahuja’s side to file a complaint against the makers of the film ? Or was it a legitimate one, given the kind of things that are happening with him in the last couple of years.
