“…May not be dead, he was may be in ‘very deep meditation’’. As said by A Buddhist academic. It is really awe-inspiring that a 200-year-old mummified monk discovered in Mongolia in the lotus position which is covered in animal hide. The efforts of discovering prevailed last week in the Songinokhairkhan district, close to the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar.  Archaeologists has claimed the monk may have been in a rare spiritual state known as “tukdam” which is considered as the sign of into deep meditation. According to experts the Lama is not dead, but is in a very deep meditation that was practised by the ancient tradition of Buddhist lamas.

Based on the results of the forensic examinations that are being carried out on the remains, investigators believe he was a man who may have been a Lama, or a teacher of Tibetan Buddhism. The mummified monk was taken to National Centre of Forensic Expertise for further examination, as revealed by The Telegraph.

And the monk’s body did not appear to show signs of decay and Itigilov apparently remained in the lotus position when his body was examined by Buddhist monks in 1955 and again in 1973. Probably the salt in the coffin may have played a vital part in slow decaying. Others factors like the soil and the coffin’s condition added to the possibilities. Truly, history has many things to unfold!
