The young Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer is certainly one of the finest batters of the present time and his performances in the recently concluded 2-match test series against Bangladesh garnered praises as he played an important role in India’s win in the series by 2-0.
Shreyas Iyer is also the third highest run-scorer across all the formats in the year 2022 as he has scored 1609 runs including 14 fifties and 1 century and this certainly speaks highly of his caliber. Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam is at the top spot with 2598 runs and the right-handed batter has smashed 17 fifties and 8 centuries to achieve this milestone. Bangladeshi cricketer Litton Das is at the second spot with 1921 runs which include 13 fifties and 3 hundreds. if we talk about other Indian batters, Suryakumar Yadav is at the seventh position with 1424 runs (10 fifties, 2 hundreds), Rishabh Pant is at the 10th spot (7 fifties, 3 hundreds) and Virat Kohli is at the 11th position (11 fifties, 2 centuries).
Recently, the skipper of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders gave an interview in which he talked about his first meeting with the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Shreyas Iyer was playing in domestic cricket at that time; recalling that meeting, he stated that he was 14 yrs old when Master Blaster visited BKC in order to motivate them for a tournament and that was the first time when Shreyas Iyer got to meet Sachin and it was during a Ranji Trophy final that he got the chance to have a one-on-one chat with Sachin Tendulkar.
Shreyas Iyer said that during the brief chat that he had with Sachin, he asked about the stance and technique which varies in every match and in response Little Master told him that whatever he feels is perfect for that day is the right thing to do and he should do whatever makes him comfortable on that particular day. Shreyas Iyer said that Sachin is very obsessed with the game of cricket as he keeps on talking about that and gives many tips too.
There is no denying the fact that Sachin Tendulkar is obsessed with cricket because that obsession has played a great role in making him the God of cricket for his fans.
Shreyas Iyer will be seen next in ODI series against Sri Lanka which is set to start from January 10 at Guwahati. Prior to that, India and Sri Lanka will clash against each other in the T20I series which is starting from today (3.1.2023) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
