Nowadays, audiences love to watch reality shows as they give a dose of entertainment which is not scripted (at least, the makers claim so). What’s more, there is a chance of watching something unique or unusual while on the other hand, sitcoms are quite predictable.
However, a basic question arises here, i.e., can you show anything, just anything, in the name of a reality show whether it’s fighting, murder or rape?
A Russian reality show by the name of “Game2: Winter” is going to start in July 2017 and will end in April 2018, which means it will run for almost 9 months. The tagline of the show is:
“Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”
In this show, 30 male and female contestants will face the challenge of surviving in the wild jungles of Siberia where they will need to save themselves from not only wolves and bears but also chilling cold. 2000 cameras will be fixed in order to stream the telecast 24×7 for a web TV channel. The contestants will also carry a portable and rechargeable camera.
This reality show is organized by a millionaire named Yevgeny Pyatkovsky who will be awarding the prize money of $1.6 million to the winner of the show. Furthermore, it has been made clear that the makers won’t be responsible for anything that happens with the contestants during the game.
Yevgeny stated,
“We will refuse any claim of participants even if they were to be killed or raped. We will have nothing to do with this. This will be spelt out in a document to be signed by the participant before the start of the show.”
The contestants have been advised by the organizers to act according to their gut feeling and they are free to hit someone, steal, rob and even rape but they will themselves be responsible for their actions and if they disobey the laws of Russian Federation, cops can arrest them. It’s worth mentioning that temperature here goes as low as minus 50 °C.
The contestants will be provided with knives but no gun will be given. They will need to do ice fishing and make shelters to survive in the wild. However, they will have the option of making requests to the audiences to donate money to them so that they can buy the items that they want.
A “panic button” will also be there which will be connected by satellite and if a contestant feels that he/she can’t take it anymore, the panic button can be pressed which will result in the exit of the contestant from the show. Yevgeny said,
“The show will be absolutely extreme, there are no exceptions. There will be no doctors with the participants. If someone gets sick, wounded and realise that he/she cannot pass the test, the helicopter will take him/her away to the doctors. Then the participant will quit the game forever.”
We firmly feel that this has crossed the limits and you just can’t ignore humanity in the name of entertainment but already 5 countries have not only shown their interest but also signed the contract for telecasting the show.
