This Slow Loris had His Teeth Ripped Out So Tourists Could Take Cute Selfies!

We go to different places and crave to capture moments which we would cherish later. Taking pictures and selfies are one of them. But do you know, we are actually harming the environment for a sheer memoir! Recently, a shocking animal abuse stormed the world where a slow Loris is found with his teeth ripped out so that tourists could pose with him for pictures.

Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) received a phone call from a rescue group about a slow Loris who was surrendered near Chaweng Beach area of Koh Samui. This is a very popular tourist beach where a passerby reported the incident. But, after the checkup, WFFT discovered some hideous findings which are not normal with rescued animals.

The male Bengal slow Loris aka Boris, not only had his teeth ripped out but also was covered in ticks and his wrist had been broken. Slow Lorises are very sought after animals for their big beautiful eyes and cuddly “baby like” appearance. They have a toxic bite which can cause severe injury and pain. WFFT wrote in Facebook post,

“Teeth clipping and extraction is common with captive lorises, particularly those that are used illegally as photo prop animals to prevent them from causing injuries to the people that pay money to get that all so great selfie with a wild animal in a far away exotic place,”

They further said,

“The sad reality for the animals embroiled in a life of abuse within the tourist photo prop industry, involves being taken from the wild, ripped away from their mothers, sometimes drugged, their body parts modified to suit the needs of tourists, they spend endless nights being dragged around bright, loud, overpopulated and polluted areas.”

Boris can’t go back to where he belongs as he could not be able to defense himself without his teeth. He will peacefully spend the rest of his life at the WFFT rescue center and never ever handled by tourists again.
