In Raees, SRK plays the character of Abdul Latif, an alleged gangster who ran illegal liquor business in Gujarat during Prohibition in 1990s. Now, Raees is facing several legal troubles. There were around 40 murder cases filed against Latif. Now, Mustak Ahmed Abdul Latif Shaikh, the son of Latif has sent legal notices to 9 prominent people who were included in the making of Raees. These include director Rahul Dholakia, producer Ritesh Sidhwani, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and SRK. He strictly asked why and how a film on the life of his father is being made.
The legal notice ceases the team from promoting, releasing, screening or publicizing the film. It says that Latif was a famous businessman having deep roots in the society. In short, Raees is blamed to be showing him in unfavorable light and therefore it ought to give some explanations to his son. Even the set that represents the house of Abdul which was erected in FilmCity replicates Shaikhs’ residence. We wonder how SRK would handle this situation.
