SRK, the Bollywood Superstar has received his 3rd honorary doctorate by Maulana Azad National Urdu University. Pranab Mukherjee was the Chief Guest at this 6th convocation of the university.
He was conferred upon the title by the President Pranab Mukherjee and after he received this honor, King Khan said “I am happy to get the honorary doctorate. My father would have been most happy. Would have been very special for mother as Hyderabad is her birthplace.”
These honorary doctorates were given to Rekhta Foundation’s founder, Rajiv Saraf and to SRK; this was because they gave an extraordinary contribution to Urdu culture and language.
Around 276 M.Phil and Ph.D students and around 2,885 graduates and post graduates in various courses, were awarded degrees.
Even 44,235 students from the distance stream were to be awarded degrees.
Vice Chancellor Zafar Younus Sareshwala, Deputy CM Mohammad Mahmood Ali and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan were present on the occasion. This is SRK’s 3rd honorary degree; the 1st one being from the University of Bedfordshire and the 2nd being from University of Edinburgh.
