State EC Sent Notice To AAP Over Poster Controversy & Demanded An Action Within 48 Hours

The MCD elections in New Delhi are going to take place on April 23 and the campaigning is on the full swing as after the results of five state elections, these elections have become a prestige war for AAP and BJP.

Aam Aadmi Party has always claimed to be the most honest political party and tried to portray its leader Arvind Kejriwal as the most honest leader. As a part of its campaign, AAP puts up posters in which the party has shown the contest between AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and opposition leader of Delhi assembly, Vijender Gupta. In the poster, Arvind Kejriwal is shown in a very sober look while Vijender Gupta is portrayed as a villain.

Vijender complained about it to the state election commission and taking it into notice, the state EC has written a letter to AAP, asking them to act within 48 hours or the state EC will take an action against their leaders without even listening to them. The letter has been shared by Vijender Gupta on Twitter with caption, “Notice issued by the Hon’ble State Election Commission to AAP and CM @ArvindKejriwal on using my distorted image with malafide intention.”

The state election commission has categorically stated that these posters are breach of the code of conduct. Vijender Gupta has demanded an action against the AAP leaders and apart from this, he wants all the posters that have been put up in the city to be removed. He tweeted, “filed a complaint to SEC against AAP and its leader Arvind Kejriwal for affixing my distorted photographs in his election hordings”.

This is for the second time that the EC has given a shock to Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier it rejected Kejriwal’s demand of using ballet papers in MCD elections in place of EVMs. Arvind has been raising his voice against EVMs since his party has fared badly in Punjab and Goa elections and according to him, EVMs were tampered.

We are sure that Arvind Kejriwal will be back with more serious allegations against the EC and BJP after this order from the former. What do you say? Share your views in the comments section below.
