America has always been a dream destination for ambitious Indians as the country offers them a life with great career, money and happiness which is not so easy in India if we compare to USA. Personalities like Sundar Pichai, who is now the first India-born CEO of Google inspires and motivates the youngsters to take up their American dream more strongly and with more determination.

However, one should not forget that this “the most powerful man in mobile” has faced a lot of hurdles and overcame them successfully to reach where he is at the moment.

Sundar belongs from a lower middle class family of Chennai, his father worked as a foreman in electronics multinational GEC and his mother was a stenographer. He lived in a small two room flat with his parents and his brother, Sundar with his brother used to sleep in the living room. Sundar spent most of his childhood without TV, and for travelling purposes they had an old Lambretta scooter and the next best available option was local bus.

When Sundar was 12 years old, his father bought a rotary telephone and being a numeric expert, Sundar used to remember all the numbers that were dialled that day and even today he has enticed his colleagues with his mathematical expertise.

Sundar went on to IIT Kharagpur for studies and from there he got a scholarship for studying materials science and semiconductor physics in Stanford University. For booking his flight ticket, Sundar’s father tried to take a loan but didn’t got it so he withdrew Rs. 50, 000 from savings. Sundar was at Stanford in the year 1993 where a whole new world of possibilities was waiting for him; however he was missing the girl of her life there badly who is his wife now.

However he dropped of his idea of doing PhD from Stanford and joined a company Applied Materials which specialised in making semiconductor, Sundar joined as an engineer and product manager.  Sundar joined Google headquarters on April 1, 2004; he was an MBA till then but who knew that this person would be the CEO of Google after few years.
