Ahan Shetty is finally enjoying a moment many felt was long overdue. With Border 2 finding strong audience support, the young actor has stepped back into the spotlight after a quiet phase following his debut film Tadap in 2021. Sharing screen space with heavyweights like Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan, the film marks only Ahan’s second release but it has already sparked fresh conversations around his career and the rumours that once surrounded it.
After Tadap, Ahan was expected to appear in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sanki but the project never took off. Soon after, speculation began doing the rounds that he had been dropped from the film due to allegedly high entourage costs. Those whispers followed Ahan for months, even as he stayed away from the public eye. Now, with Border 2’s success, Suniel Shetty has firmly addressed those claims and dismissed them as completely untrue.
In a recent interview, the senior actor spoke candidly about how such stories often surface for convenience. He made it clear that Ahan has never been excessive with his entourage and that the rumours had no factual basis. According to Suniel, if such claims were genuine, they should be backed by proper proof rather than vague accusations and he asked the producer to show the bills. As a father, he said that he would not hesitate to step in when his son’s integrity is questioned unfairly.
Suniel also shared his broader views on actors’ fees and entourage expenses in the film industry. He acknowledged that actors today do demand higher fees but stressed that it should come with accountability. In his view, if an actor believes they can bring in numbers, they should be willing to become a partner in the film rather than just taking a paycheck. He explained that a film’s success depends on several moving parts, including timing, marketing, content and casting, and actors should share both responsibility and risk.
Addressing the entourage issue more personally, Suniel explained that Ahan is extremely cautious about expenses. If any costs are personal, they are covered by Ahan himself and not passed on to producers. He even cited his own long-standing rule on sets, where his team is instructed to ensure that any extra expenses come from his pocket. According to him, there is no question of his staff or Ahan’s team crossing that line.
Suniel added that Ahan is still at a stage where he is learning and settling into the industry, making stories of tantrums or demands even more unrealistic. From his perspective, such behaviour simply does not fit where Ahan is in his journey.
Interestingly, Ahan himself had addressed the issue last year, stating that he was aware of the articles written about him but knew they were false. He maintained that the truth was known to those who mattered and that developing a thick skin is essential to survive in the film industry.
With the success of Border 2 now shifting the focus back to his work, Ahan Shetty appears ready to move forward, leaving behind rumours that, according to both father and son, never reflected reality in the first place.
