Sometimes, a performance is so dominant that words fall short. After India’s crushing win over New Zealand in the third T20I, even Sunil Gavaskar admitted that normal praise wasn’t enough. So, he came up with his own description, calling this Indian side “supercalifragilisticfantabulous”, a playful twist on the famous Mary Poppins word used to describe something truly extraordinary.

And extraordinary is exactly what India have been in this series. In Guwahati, they first restricted New Zealand to a modest 153 for 9 in 20 overs, thanks largely to Jasprit Bumrah’s superb spell of 3 for 17. The chase that followed barely felt like a contest. India stormed to the target in just ten overs, led by Abhishek Sharma’s jaw-dropping 68 off only 20 balls.
Sunil Gavaskar, speaking after the match, stressed that this Indian team’s dominance goes far beyond batting. He pointed out how sharp they have been in every department, from disciplined bowling to athletic fielding and safe catching. According to him, this is the kind of side that opponents struggle to find answers for, because there are no obvious weaknesses to target.

The pattern has been similar throughout the series. New Zealand did manage a stronger total of 208 for 6 in the previous match but India chased that down as well, finishing the job in just 15.2 overs. Even the opening game, which was the closest of the three, ended with India winning comfortably by 48 runs. With the series now sealed 3-0, India have extended their remarkable run to 11 consecutive T20I series victories.
A major talking point has been Abhishek Sharma’s explosive form. His 14-ball half-century in Guwahati left him just two balls short of Yuvraj Singh’s legendary fastest T20I fifty for India. Gavaskar believes it is only a matter of time before that record is challenged. He feels Abhishek has shown repeatedly that he has the skill and confidence to score at that pace, and if the record does fall, it would still be a moment of pride for Indian cricket.
With confidence sky-high and performances clicking perfectly, this Indian T20I team looks like a force few can slow down. For now, even legends are running out of words to describe them.
