Virat Kohli, the skipper of the Indian cricket team who is presently leading his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021 has added one more feather to his cap in the match which was played against Rajasthan Royals.
Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the best cricketers of all times and he has achieved one more feat when he crossed the mark of 6000 runs in the IPL. With this, he has become the first player and the only cricketer to cross the 6000 mark.
Virat was 51 runs short of making this achievement before the match against RR and in that match, he scored 72 runs not out in 47 balls (6 fours, 3 sixes). Though Virat seemed to be in good touch, he gave more strike to his partner Devdutt Padikkal as he was batting quite well. They both shared a first wicket unbeaten partnership of 181 runs and won the match by 10 wickets. Devdutt Padikkal remained not out on 101 for which he played 52 deliveries.
The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is also pretty impressed with Virat Kohli as he states that the manner in which Virat has achieved the feat is amazing. He added that Virat Kohli was batting nicely but still he took the backseat as Devdutt was batting really well and this is what opening partnerships are all about. According to Gavaskar, Virat stands at the top because when a player is the first one to achieve a milestone, he is setting bar for the others.
Little Master further says that now other cricketers such as Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, etc. who have already crossed the 5000 runs mark will try to cross the 6000 runs mark as well because this is what the no.1 sportsperson does.
RCB is presently at the top spot in the points table with four wins in the four matches that the team has played and Virat Kohli is certainly leading from the front. RCB will be playing their next match today against Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and it will surely be an interesting clash.
