Supreme Court Asks BCCI Chief Anurag Thakur To Quit; Twitter Flooded With Reactions

The Supreme Court has come heavily on the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) chief Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke and ordered them to quit their posts, as they have been disobeying the apex court’s orders regularly.

Anurag and Ajay have been warned by the SC that they may be sent to jail under the charges of contempt of court and perjury as it has been found that they have mislead the court on the matter of ICC’s stance with regard to reform measures. Anurag was already given a week to apologize.

The Supreme Court has further said that BCCI and state boards have failed miserably in bringing clearness and answerability in the cricket body.

Fali Nariman and senior lawyer Gopal Subramanium have been appointed by the court as Amicus Curiae to find out who will run the BCCI after Anurag and Ajay leave the posts.

BCCI never wanted to implement all the recommendations of Lodha Panel while the Supreme Court wants to implement all the recommendations and now it seems the court has lost its patience.

19th January has been fixed as the next hearing date in the matter of BCCI.

As usual, Twitter also reacted over the matter and here are few selected tweets!
