Tabu Says She Will Have To Embrace Her Age, “Not Open To Playing A 30-Year-Old Anymore”

Senior actress Tabu is one of the most talented actresses of the Indian film industry and she has worked with almost all the big stars of Bollywood including Ajay Devgn with whom she shares a good bond as well.

Tabu and Ajay are good friends and they will once again share the screen together in “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” which is slated to release on 2 August 2024. During an interview, Tabu talked about not only her upcoming movie but also her friendship with Ajay Devgn with whom she worked in “Vijaypath” for the first time which released in 1994.

At the start of the interview, Tabu asked the interviewer whether she is going to ask about her friendship with Ajay Devgn because if she speaks one more time about their friendship, then Ajay will break his friendship with her.

Tabu called Ajay Devgn a silent bully and stated, “He’s a silent bully. People will never come to know that he has any such plan up his sleeves. He has a very quiet and sweet way of ragging people, being mischievous.”

Talking about her upcoming movie, “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha”, Tabu said that she was relieved when she was told by director Neeraj Pandey that the younger versions will be played by different actors.

The younger versions of Ajay Devgn and Tabu have been played by Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee M Manjrekar, respectively. This is what Tabu said, “My first question to Neeraj was, what about the younger part? When he told me that there’s a different set of actors to do that, I was like, fine. Sometimes, de-aging actors can look gimmicky especially if the public knows how old they are.”

She further said, “They’ve seen how we look at present. But all of it depends on the kind of film and the context. Some films can carry off older actors playing younger roles well because it isn’t jarring for the audience. But we didn’t require that in ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ and it worked better that way.”

When she was asked whether she is open to play the role of a 30 years old girl, she refused by saying, “I would refuse those parts. I don’t think that I’ll be open to playing a 30-year-old anymore. I’ve no option but to embrace my age.”
