The Indian team is currently in Australia where it is taking part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the last match that it played was against South Africa at Perth. Team India was staying at Crown Perth and a horrible incident took place over there which shook the entire cricket fraternity and people across the world as a video of Virat Kohli’s room got leaked and went viral on the Internet. The privacy of former Indian skipper was invaded as the video was shot in his absence and it showed many of his belongings such as shoe collection, health supplements, etc. It was quite obvious that this was the work of some staff members who took undue advantage of their position.
Virat Kohli also shares the video and makes it clear that he is very upset because of such ‘fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy’. He captioned the video, “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment.”
Many cricketers and Bollywood celebrities reacted on this matter and soon the hotel management took an action on the individuals who were responsible for this terrifying incident. Not only this, the hotel also apologized to Virat Kohli for such a shameful act.
As per reports, the Indian team management has talked to Virat Kohli and asked him whether he wants to make an official complaint with the hotel but the Indian cricketer is in no mood to take this matter further so he has refused to file an official complaint.
There is no denying the fact that Virat Kohli is one of the most popular sportspersons of the present times and he is loved by many fans across the globe but there should be a limit when it comes to expressing love for their favourite cricketer. Fans should practice some restraint because even a celebrity has the right to privacy.
