Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara, better known as Kumar Sangakkara is a former SriLankan Cricketer, he is stated as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He has also captained the side and contributed to the team’s performance with his terrific wicket-keeping. Sangakkara is also depicted as the “most polished and prudent of batsmen.”
Sangakkara started his test career on 20 July 2000 against South Africa when he was 22 years old; he made his one day debut against Pakistan. In 2009, he became the captain of Srilankan Cricket team when Mahela Jayawardene stepped down from captaincy “in the best interests of the Sri Lankan team.”
Kumar Sangakkara with AB de Villiers has conquered the number One spot in the ICC Test batting rankings for more than a decade, on 12th August, 2015 he was at the spot of number five.
In June 2015, Sangakkara made it public that he will take retirement from the International Cricket after the second test match against India that will be played in August.
