Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani is gearing up for the release of Mastiii 4 and in the process, he has found himself looking back at the many stories and assumptions that have followed him throughout his career. As he revisits these old conversations, he speaks with a calmness that comes from years of choosing not to let noise disturb his peace.

During a recent chat, Aftab Shivdasani addressed a rumour that once claimed he was involved in drug use, a rumour he still finds absurd. He remembered hearing it for the first time and feeling more amused than hurt, calling it the strangest thing ever being said about him. Instead of reacting publicly or trying to clear the air, he followed a belief he adopted early in life — the truth doesn’t shout. It doesn’t demand attention or proof. It simply exists. Holding on to that idea, he chose silence over explanations.
He said that he never felt the need to publicly defend himself. In his view, losing sleep over something untrue made no sense, especially when he knew the truth and so did the people who mattered to him. He added that even if he shouted from the rooftop, those who wanted to believe the worst would still believe it, so speaking out was pointless.
Aftab Shivdasani also touched upon the perception that he carried attitude issues or behaved unprofessionally on set. He reasoned that if such claims were true, he would not have survived as long as he has in a film industry known for having little patience for bad behaviour. He believes his reputation speaks for itself, people may have varied opinions about him but very few dislike him, largely because he has been intentional about keeping his conduct steady and his relationships respectful.

When the conversation shifted to friendships in the film world, the actor admitted that he doesn’t have many. There has only been one constant companion — Rahul Dev. Their friendship dates back to 2001, and although they don’t talk often, their bond remains firm and uncomplicated, something he deeply values.
As Aftab Shivdasani prepares for his return to theatres with Mastiii 4, releasing on November 21, he does so with a sense of grounded clarity, choosing truth over noise, dignity over reaction and a small but steady circle over large, uncertain crowds.
