These 7 Poorest Countries In The World Will Make You Feel Rich

As per the estimate made by the World Bank, the percentage of people who live their life in acute poverty will go below 10 percent in 2015. A report published by the World Bank says that the percentage of people with spending capacity of Rs.125/day will reduce to 9.6 from 12.8%. World Bank states that the global poverty will most probably end by 2030.

1. Afghanistan

Afghanistan is still bearing the brunt of violence and conflicts that started with Soviet invasion and 42% citizens of the country are leading their lives below the national poverty line.

Democratic Republic of Congo is the first country in the list of poorest countries with the lowest GDP in the world and facing the problem of violation of human rights. The reason of this high rate of poverty is civil war.

4. Eritrea

Eritrea is the youngest when it comes to independence and its annual per capita is 150 USD. In this country, 53% of the families live their lives below poverty line while 44% kids below the age of five are underweight. The main source of income is agriculture in this country.

5. Liberia

The 14 year civil war, which ended in 2003, has left Liberia in a very weak state and it is still not able to recover from it completely. It has been labeled as a low-income and food-deficit nation by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization and over 80% citizens live on less than 1.25 USD/day.

6. Niger

It is one of the least developed nations, with 16 million population which is growing at the rate of 3.3%. It stands 186th in UN’s 2013 Human Development Index and 76% of people survive on less than 2 USD/day.

7. Zimbabwe

Poverty is more prominent in the rural areas of Zimbabwe as it is 31% in rural areas while 10% in urban areas and the major part of Zimbabwean population (88%) lives in rural areas. However, when compared to other African countries, Zimbabwe is in a little better condition.
