A minor girl of 14 is alleged to be gang-raped by a group of army men. The jawans boarded Howrah-Amritsar Express in an intoxicated condition and subsequent to forcing her for consuming liquor, they gangraped her, as per cop.
According to sources, the girl belongs to Kolkata and on Sunday, boarded Punjab-bound train at Howrah; however, mistakenly she got into army people reserved coach. An army man made her drink alcohol while two raped the girl as she entered bathroom.
She was found unconscious when the train stopped at Madhupur station of Jharkhand.
As per Arjun Tiwari, Madhupur GRP’s officer in-charge, “We have arrested one Mandreesh Tripathi who had offered liquor to the minor.” Sources reveal that Mandreesh also confessed that he made the girl drink liquor.
In the words of Asansol division’s RPF official, “The military coach was locked from inside and after a bit of a ‘struggle’, the RPF and GRP men were able to gain access. The girl was found inside. She wasn’t fully conscious and was being fed by Tripathi. Women constables helped the girl to the GRP station and Tripathi was taken into custody. During questioning, the girl said she was forced to drink alcohol by three jawans and then raped by two of them.”
“Prima facie, it seems the allegations are correct. We have identified the two accused and interrogation of the arrested person is likely to provide further leads. It seems that the crime occurred soon after the train left Howrah,” states Dhanbad superintendent of railway police, Asim Vikrant Minj.
Talking about the condition of the girl, she’s in shock and requires counseling.
It’s very shameful that people who are responsible for safety and security of the nation are defaming its females. What punishment do they deserve?
