Earlier it was reported that while shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan had adopted a poor family from the valley and also promised them a home. Salman was touched emotionally by the request for help by the 75 year old Zaina Begum and he promised to her help Zaina, her 40 year daughter Dilshada Jaan and her four grandchildren. In fact he employed Gowhar Ahmad Bhat, 18 year old grandson of Zaina and promised her a new house and also said that he will help them settling in Mumbai.
However now, when Bajrangi Bhaijaan is doing great business, Zaina’s grandson Gowhar has a different story to narrate, he said, “He left us after promising much. The new house is incomplete. I’ve tried to call his bodyguard, Shera, several times. He never answers and sometimes his phone is out of reach. Before the release of the film, they would call us, but now they have stopped taking our calls. I’ve left my studies and I’m looking for odd jobs to support my family, still hoping that Salman Khan will keep his promise to us.”
Zaina Begum is also sharing her grandson’s emotions, she said, “Today, when I go for begging during festivals, people call me Salman Khan’s mother and tell me to go to him for help. He had promised financial help for my two granddaughters, it’s not come through. Our house is still incomplete. We had nothing, even on Eid. I’ve lost hope. Had I know he was like this, I wouldn’t have gone to him for help.”
Nadir, the local contractor who was hired to build a two-room house is also left in middle with no knowledge of what to do now as his bills or Rs. 2.61 lakhs are pending and nobody from Salman’s team is picking the phone, he says, “I keep calling Salman’s people, they tell me that they are travelling and promise to settle the bill soon,” he grouses. “I’ve been doing what they told me to without any thought of profit.”
However, a person close to the actor Salman Khan assured that Bhai will fulfill his promise, he said, “We got work for the old lady’s grandson in the art department of Bajrangi Bhaijaan while we were shooting in Kashmir. He is the only male child in the family and needs a job in the vicinity. We have requested few people for a job for him in the Valley. It’s a decent size house and cannot be made overnight. Work is still in progress and the house should be completed in a month’s time. Once the house is ready, we will send you pictures of it and you will see for yourself that Salman kept his promise.”
We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that Bhaijaan fulfills his promise and the dreams of old lady and her family come true.
