The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav yet again managed to embarrass himself, while stating that he has downloaded the movie ‘PK’. This incident can be termed as a “casual act of piracy” on the part of such a high esteemed politician.

Akhilesh recorded a statement “People had been telling me for many days to watch PK. I downloaded it a few days ago but only found the time watch it last night”. Seems like Akhilesh Yadav have become the favorite of media controversies. What is more astonishing is that the statement has been recorded at a press conference where the achievements of Samjawadi Party was been appreciated.

The statement issued, claims, “The screening of PK was done on Club X media server installed at Akhilesh Yadav’s residence. The Club X service enables authorized private screenings of movies at Club X licensed auditorium of its members. Movies can be screened from the date of their theatrical release in India. Movies are delivered to the Club X media servers over a captive satellite network or are physically delivered and are stored in a digitally encrypted form. A license is required to playback the movie each time and is issued based upon the authorization received from the content owners.”

As soon as the news spread, Akhilesh Yadav cleared the air, by issuing a controversial free statement clarifying that the download was from an authentic website. Considering it a sheer case of piracy, Sanjay Sharma, founder of TAHRIR (Transparency, Accountability and Human Rights Initiative for Revolution) has filed a case against the CM at Hazratganj Police for downloading a pirated copy of the movie.

Don’t you think, people in power and higher command should be more careful while giving statements in public?
