This IAS Officer Was Transferred From Chennai Corporation Because He Warned About The Grim #ChennaiFloods

Chennai is drowning and sorry to say but it is the politics among the governing officials to blame for. Pointing fingers to Corruption might sound bizarre but the truth is in India anything can happen. Just a few days prior to the Chennai floods, which is devastating the city, IAS officer Vijay Pingale reported about the worst situation which might arise and create a havoc in the city resulting in death of many.

Vijay Pingale was transferred from his role as a Corporation works joint commissioner for being highly competent and scrupulous three days after he named contractors who botched up road work in the city and fined them in an unprecedented move towards transparency by the civic body. He has been moved as Joint Secretary under Industries Department.
It was during a Monsoon meeting that he pointed about the corrupt officials who have to reimburse the civic body Rs 2 crore for repairs it carried out on stretches laid by them, which is dangerous in case a flood or heavy water logging. This did not went well with the officials who warned him about his ‘straight attitude’.

“It was because of his expertise that we were able to limit waterlogging when it rained. If he remained in the corporation for two more years or so, he could have truly helped it move forward. Also, the timing of his transfer, only days after he penalized contractors responsible for poorly laid roads, is no coincidence,” an official said.
IAS officer Vijay Pingale had already warned about the situation, but it’s really sad that people who are supposed to protect us, only threw us into this flooding trouble. We are sure, the ruins and number of deaths would have been less, had there been proper investigation and action taken against the officers who cared more about money rather than their duty.

Shameful, Hurting!
