The Indian cricket team is into the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 and now they will be facing England in the second semi-final which will be played on 27 June 2024 at Guyana Cricket Stadium.

India’s last Super Eight match was against Australia and India not only won the match by 24 runs but it also closed the doors for the Australian team to march ahead in the tournament. The Indian fans are pretty happy as for them, India has taken the revenge of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in which Australia defeated India in the finals.

In this match, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front as he played a brilliant knock of 92 runs for which he played only 41 balls and his innings included 7 fours & 8 sixes. With this innings, Rohit Sharma broke the record of Yuvraj Singh of hitting the maximum number of sixes in a T20I match. India went on to put up a total of 205/5 on the score board but the Aussies could manage only 181/7 in their 20 overs despite Travis Head (76 runs, 43 balls, 9 fours & 4 sixes) and Mitchell Marsh (37 runs, 28 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) setting up a good platform for chasing the total.

Rohit Sharma was adjudged as the Player of the Match and he was praised by fans and the former cricketers as well for his superb knock which also included an over of Mitchell Starc in which Rohit Sharma smashed 28 runs (29 runs including a wide). Rohit Sharma completed his fifty in just 19 balls but missed his century by 8 runs.

The former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar was also full of praises for Rohit Sharma and team India. While speaking on his YouTube channel, he said, “Well done India, this is your World Cup now. You should win this and the World Cup should stay in the subcontinent. You should have won the previous too and this too. You deserve it one hundred percent. My support is with you. Rohit’s intent is good and his conscience is clear. He deserves to lift the trophy.”

He further added, “What a comprehensive win for India. They had been going through depression after they lost a World Cup that they should have won. They had lost to Australia in the final and that depression turned into obsession. They wanted to hit back at Australia.”

The first semi-final will be played between Afghanistan and South Africa and the second semi-final will be played between India and England; both the matches will be played tomorrow.

Shoaib Akhtar also said that he wants to see Afghanistan winning the semi-finals but in the end, he wants to see India lift the trophy.
