Every morning, when everyone is in a hurry to reach their workplace, for meetings and offices, it is normal for people to overlook things which can be beneficial for their health, even when they are aware about it.
One of such instance is using the busy escalators, even when the stairs are just next it to, empty. We know taking stair proves to be healthy, but escalators look more relaxing.
A team of Volkswagen decided to address this issue. One small experiment, inspired from the Tom Hanks’s movie, Big, made the difference. It made 66% of the commuters at a station in Stockholm, use the stairs, leaving the escalators empty.
They call it “Fun Theory”. This was an initiative to change the behavior of the people for better.

This experiment did not end here. It was further followed in China, Japan, USA, Italy and Brazil, and the results were similar. People preferred stairs over escalators.
