A sitting Chief Minister of an India’s smallest state was handpicked by the PM of India to take over a ministry riddled with bureaucratic inertia, corruption, nepotism, scams and a daunting task of preparing India to face the challenge of an overwhelming dragon on one side and an erratic terror infested venom spewing eastern neighbor on the other side.
He is the one of the most upfront and pro-active minister of Modi government. In fact it won’t be exaggerating to say that he is the most badass defence minister India have got till now.

1. He believes in fighting fire with fire and clearly going on back foot isn’t he learned.
He isn’t one of those defence ministers who would like to take softer routes. National security is his utmost concern and he won’t let it jeopardize in any case. An example to it was the Myanmar strike in which 50 terrorists were neutralized is a testament to this fact.
2. Being Effective, Efficient and No-Nonsense Administrator with no utter nonsense comments. He believes in what he says.
Manohar Parrikar before taking responsibility as Defence Minister of India was the sitting CM of Goa, where he was a significant figure for BJP and RSS. He used to keep a close eye on issues concerning his home state and concerning ‘aam aadmi’, also he is a strict taskmaster when it comes to make things work. This is the reason the efficiency of his ministry has gone up astronomically.
3. He prefers to travel via regular airlines instead of chartered flights.
While he was the CM of Goa he used to travel to other states via regular airlines instead of opting for chartered flights which could have been much more relaxing. He doesn’t believe in spending public money in travel and security. In fact he was known to travel by bicycle to Goa Vidhan Sabha and also refused every government benefit.
4. He is the first Chief Minister of an Indian state to be an IITian.
You might not know this but he is the first CM of any state to be an IITian, YES! Well before Mr. Kejriwal. In fact the IIT Bombay alumni was the batch mate of former CEO of Infosys Mr. Nandan Nilekani.
5. He is solution oriented, problem solver ,go-getter.
Remember the OROP implementation issue concerning Defence Personnel. With him becoming the Defence Minister, it was his top priority to solve major issues asap. Or be it Rafale Jet deal or Myanmar strike, this all proves that he is a problem solver as well as can be problem giver in severe circumstance.
6. He is literally a moral booster for soldiers
Being the Defence Minister of World’s largest democracy. He doesn’t back down from boosting the moral of soldiers from time to time. Within just 6 months after taking charge of Defence Ministry he visited J&K twice to review security situation.
7. He has proved that nation comes first, and well before family too
In the year 2000, just a month before his swearing in as CM of Goa, his wife passed away due to cancer. But he didn’t let his wife’s death fall between his duties. He respectfully took the oath to Chief Minister’s Office.

He do not want any special treatment at any place like other ministers. He stands in queue for his work, sometimes travels in public transport without security and even for casting his vote.
