This Legendary Cricketer Has Been Appointed As The New Coach Of RCB For IPL 2024

The IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore had a mixed season last time as they played some good cricket in the league phase but failed to make it to the play-offs which left many of their fans upset and disappointed.

RCB is one of the few IPL teams which have been a part of the tournament since the inaugural edition of 2008 but they are still waiting to lift the trophy for the first time. What makes it more surprising is the fact that RCB has been one of the strongest teams of the league in almost all the seasons and some of the really big names of the cricket world like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, etc. have played for the team.

Virat Kohli has been playing for RCB since the inaugural edition and in 2013, he was appointed as the skipper of the team. He led the team till 2021 and then he quit captaincy citing the issue of workload management after which Faf du Plessis was appointed as the skipper of the Bangalore franchise.

RCB has played three finals but failed in winning any of them and recently the management made a big change as they have appointed the former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower as the new head coach of the team.

The official Twitter handle of RCB tweeted, “We are beyond thrilled to welcome 𝗜𝗖𝗖 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿 and 𝗧𝟮𝟬 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 winning coach 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 as the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 of RCB Men’s team. Andy’s experience of coaching IPL & T20 teams around the world, and leading his teams to titles at the PSL, ILT20, The Hundred and Abu Dhabi T10 will help in developing a championship winning mindset and take RCB’s #PlayBold philosophy forward.”

RCB parted ways with Sanjay Bangar and Mike Hesson and also thanked them in a tweet.

Here is what they tweeted, “We thank 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 and 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫 for their commendable work during the stints as 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 of RCB”.

Andy Flower was the head coach of the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons – 2022 and 2023 and in both the seasons, LSG went to the play-offs but got ousted in the eliminator; Justin Langer will be replacing Andy Flower in the Lucknow team. If we talk about the other assignments of Andy Flower, then he has served as the head coach of various teams including Multan Sultans and Gulf Giants.
