A German boyfriend killed his girlfriend because she was pregnant and he was not ready for playing the role of a father. The German court sentenced the boyfriend and his friend, who helped him in committing the heinous crime.
In January last year, Maria Pener (19) was eight months pregnant when her boyfriend Eren Toben (20) told her that they would go for shopping of baby clothes; however, he instead took her to woods in Berlin and there he first pierced her with a bread knife and then burnt her.
The court was told that he wanted a ‘free, happy life’ and that is why he killed his girlfriend and unborn baby. Eren has been sentenced 14 years of jail along with Daniel Mueller (20), who helped him in killing Maria.
Jud Regina Alex stated that Eren planned everything as, “For him the crime was a solution, he wanted a free, happy life which he had control over. He abused Maria’s love for him to lure her into an ambush. She was still conscious, it could have been 10, 20, 30 seconds – she was still moving,” the judge said.
The dead body was seen by a walker the next day which consequently led to the arrest of Eren and Daniel. However, after getting arrested, they both started blaming each other for the crime; however, Eren’s fingerprints were on the knife’s handle.
The judge said about Daniel, “He acted for the sole purpose of taking pleasure in the destruction of another human being’s life.”
This is what Maria’s brother said after the trial, “I hope that our family can finally have some peace.”
