Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest running and most beloved television sitcoms of India, known for its light-hearted humour and family-friendly themes. Set in the Gokuldham Society, it highlights unity in diversity through its quirky yet relatable characters. Among them was Goli Hathi, played by Kush Shah, who joined the show as a child actor. Kush portrayed son of Dr. Hathi with charm and innocence and became a fan favourite. After years with the show, he left in 2024 to pursue higher education abroad, marking the end of a memorable journey.
Kush Shah recently opened up about his decision to leave Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. In a candid conversation on the podcast, Kush expressed deep affection for the show and its cast, admitting that the set almost felt like home over the years. However, he also felt it was the right time to step away and pursue something new, especially after turning 27.
Reflecting on his journey, Kush shared how emotionally attached he had become to the environment and how the experience shaped him. He recalled that even during the pandemic, when the team had to move to Daman to continue shooting, the dedication to the show never wavered. Despite his departure, his admiration for the show and its enduring popularity among fans remain unchanged.
Kush began his stint on TMKOC when he was just a schoolboy in fifth grade, taking his first steps into acting during his summer vacation. He fondly remembered working closely with senior actors like Dilip Joshi and Mandar Chandwadkar, learning the nuances of comic timing and performance through hands-on experience. Each day on set was a chance to grow and he appreciated the collaborative atmosphere, especially the spontaneous script readings and improvisations that made the experience more enriching.
In 2024, Kush decided to leave the show to pursue higher education abroad. His role has since been taken over by Dharmit Shah. TMKOC, which has been entertaining audiences for over 17 years, has seen many notable actors move on from the show, including Disha Vakani, Bhavya Gandhi, Gurucharan Singh, Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta, Jennifer Mistry and Raj Anadkat.
