The Pakistan cricket players are facing severe criticism from both current and former cricketers following a humiliating Test series defeat at home to Bangladesh. For the first time in history, Pakistan has lost a Test series to Bangladesh, with the visitors dominating both with the bat and the ball. The 0-2 series loss is expected to sting for some time, especially as Pakistan was in control of the games at various stages but failed to capitalize.
Cricket legends like Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq have openly questioned the quality of Pakistan’s batters. Ahmed Shehzad who is quite vocal against the Pakistani team and PCB has mocked the team’s performance, stating that Bangladesh demonstrated what it takes to play Test cricket.
In a video posted on his X account, Ahmed Shehzad mocked the Pakistani team by saying, “Tumhe aata hi nahi, Tumse hota hi nahi hai”. He captioned the video as, “Home turf humiliation Bangladesh whitewash Pakistan”.
In the video, Ahmed Shehzad said, “Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in their own backyard. You guys just cannot compete. The situation in Bangladesh wasn’t ideal as there was political unrest and the team even trained for the series in Pakistan only. They dominated throughout the series be it their batting or bowling. They taught Pakistan the determination that’s needed to play Test cricket. Their bowlers taught Pakistan what discipline is.”
Ahmed Shehzad noted that on a pitch where tge Pakistan batters struggled to score, Bangladesh made it look like a flat track. He said, “We were focusing on the pitch. On the same track when Bangladesh were batting it appeared flat but our batters were struggling. I am sure this win will be motivating for the Bangladesh fans given what’s happening in their country. Bangladesh players did what they could for their own country and fans.”
This defeat has significant implications for the ICC World Test Championship standings, with Bangladesh jumping to the fourth spot and Pakistan slipping to the ninth position. Shehzad also raised concerns about Pakistan’s inability to handle pace and movement in their batting approach as he said, “If you can’t handle a bit of pace and movement even at home then the future is not very bright for us.”

Reports suggest that Pakistan’s Test coach Jason Gillespie and white-ball coach Gary Kirsten have advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the selectors to remain calm and avoid making drastic changes, as this could further hamper the confidence of the players.
