Social media is of a great use to stay in touch with our near and dear ones on one hand but on the other, it’s filled with filth and hatred because many people use it as a vital platform to spread hate. For the same, few people’s accounts get suspended too if something appears to be fishy.
However, you’ll be surprised to know that Twitter banned a man in Japan just for giving death threats to a mosquito on the micro-blogging site. Can it be more ridiculous? I mean seriously?
It so happened that the man was watching TV and the mosquito had been troubling him for long. He killed it and posted the pic on Twitter with caption, “Where do you get off biting me all over while I’m just trying to relax and watch TV? Die! (Actually you’re already dead).”
Soon after his tweet, he received a message from Twitter, stating that his account was frozen and can’t be reactivated. Here’s what the message read,
“Your account has been frozen because it was used to send messages containing threats. The notification read Tweets containing threats are not allowed under our terms of service. This account cannot be reactivated.”
To raise voice against Twitter’s insensible action, he created a new account, @DaydreamMatcha, and tweeted, “My previous account was permanently frozen after I said I killed a mosquito. Is this a violation?”
His tweet became viral with over 27K likes and 31K retweets! However, this account was also suspended by Twitter!
Twitterati reacted over the matter fiercely and here are few selected tweets:
That’s simply great (ironically):
So you ban for someone threatening to kill a mosquito but someone calling another user a Nazi isn't on the list? @TwitterSupport @Twitter

Satirical take:
Yet the hundreds of "kill all white people" tweets are allowed. Thanks twitter, for letting me know an insects life means more than mine.

If reports are to be believed, an automated programme flagged his tweet and as per Fortune’s report, an algorithm has been launched by the micro-blogging site for detecting abusive behavior by some words which are offensive.
