Twitter Brutally Thrashed Dove For Body-Shaming Women In The Name Of Feminism - RVCJ Media

Social media has slammed the thought behind the new advertisement of Dove, personal care brand for women, as netizens feel that Dove has gotten into body-shaming with this new ad.

We all know that human beings are of different sizes and body figures and keeping this in mind, Dove has come up with body wash bottles designed in various shapes and sizes, just to celebrate the women of all sizes. However, social media doesn’t seem to like this Dove UK advertisement and has slammed it for coming out with six new shapes of bottles.

The ad starts with ‘Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes’ and this is what the brand states,

“From curvaceous to slender, tall to petite, and whatever your skin colour, shoe size or hair type, beauty comes in a million different shapes and sizes. Our six exclusive bottle designs represent this diversity: just like women, we wanted to show that our iconic bottle can come in all shapes and sizes, too.”

Some people used humor and sarcasm to mock the new ad while few were really annoyed with this new approach of the brand as they are labeling women. Check out reactions:

Women don’t need to be categorized:

That is bizarre. Like, I just want to my body wash, not be reminded that I'm pear shaped. Women don't need to be categorized all the time.

This is definitely not feminism!

FYI this is not feminism. Feminism is not having to think about what my fucking body type is when I go to buy soap

I need an answer!

What happens if you use the wrong @Dove bottle shape for your body type? Will the soap not fit me? Can I die?

Will I be shamed and side-eyed by the cashier if I'm fat and buy the skinny bottle?

So if CVS is out of "skinny bitch" bottles am I not going to be able to get clean? Not sure how this works.

Hilarious but true!

Who looks at their body wash bottle and thinks, "I wish it looked more like me?" 🤔

How?

None of the Dove body shaped Shampoo bottles accurately captures my body. How do I feel beautiful now? pic.twitter.com/aHUvSthM5M

Damn right!

I love you @Dove but this is a terrible idea. Is your PR/marketing team asleep at the wheel or what?
