The Indian bowlers played an important role in this victory not just with the ball but with the bat too as Mohammad Shami scored a brilliant half-century (56) and he was well supported by Jasprit Bumrah who scored 34 runs.

India ended fourth day at the score of 181/6 with Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma on the crease and the English team was of the opinion that once Rishabh Pant got out, it would not be difficult for them to wrap up the Indian innings. Though they got Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma dismissed early, Bumrah and Shami had other plans and it’s creditable on their part that they didn’t bat as the tailenders but as proper batsmen despite the fact that the English bowlers bowled a lot of short deliveries and Bumrah got hit on helmet once as well.

The Indian team declared its second innings at 298/8, giving a target of 272 runs to the hosts on the fifth and the final day of the test match but the whole England side got out for just 120 runs and it won’t be wrong to say that the Indian pacers performed in a great manner in this match.

For India, it was Mohammed Siraj who was the pick of bowlers as he took 8 wickets in the match (4-4 each in both the innings) and he was well supported by other pacers. While Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless in the first innings of England, in the second innings he took 3 wickets; Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets in the first innings and then in the second innings, he took 1 wicket and as far as Ishant Sharma is concerned, he took 3 wickets in the first innings and 2 wickets in the second innings.

KL Rahul was adjudged as the player of the match for his beautiful knock of 129 runs in the first innings.

As the Indian team won the second test match, many from the cricket fraternity took to Twitter to praise the Indian team and the Indian fans also showered praises on their favourite cricketers.
