Shah Rukh Khan co-owned IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders finally managed to taste victory after losing 4 back-to-back matches in the ongoing IPL 2023 as they defeated Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore in a thrilling encounter which was played yesterday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
KKR won the match by 21 runs and once again the weak middle order of RCB failed in rising up to the occasion and helped their team in avoiding the defeat. Faf du Plessis is still recovering from his injury because of which the team was once again led by Virat Kohli who chose to bowl first after winning the toss.
KKR openers Jason Roy (56 runs, 29 balls, 4 fours & 5 sixes) and Narayan Jagadeesan (27 runs, 29 balls, 4 fours) gave a good and steady start to their team by producing a partnership of 83 runs for the first wicket. While Venkatesh Iyer played a useful knock of 31 runs (26 balls, 3 fours), the skipper Nitish Rana played a fiery knock of 48 runs (21 balls, 3 fours & 4 sixes) and helped their team in posting a total of 200/5 on the scoreboard.
RCB lost their three top-order batters pretty soon – Faf du Plessis (17 runs, 7 balls, 1 four & 2 sixes), Shahbaz Ahmed (2) and Glenn Maxwell (5). While Mahipal Lomror (34 runs, 18 balls,1 four & 3 sixes) provided good support to the skipper Virat Kohli (54 runs, 37 balls, 6 fours) but after they both got out, no other batter was able to score big and RCB could manage only 179/8 in 20 overs.

RCB has played 8 matches and won 4 out of them; despite being a strong team, RCB is still not able to perform as per the expectations which is a little disappointing for the loyal fans of RCB.
