HRD Minister Smriti Irani is making the temperature hot inside the parliament with her heated speeches; first it was about Rohith Vemula & JNU and now she has spoken about an old school textbook of Indian history which she claims is spreading anti-national feelings in the minds of students. This book was a part of curriculum of Matunga’s Don Bosco School for Class IV. The author of the book is Teesta Setalvad and it taught wrong facts regarding Shivaji and Mughals.
However, Father Bernard Fernandes, the Principal of the school stated that the book was discontinued in 2004 and it was a part of the curriculum for only a year. This is what Fernandes maintained, “These books were used by some of our schools on an experimental basis for a year.” “But they were discontinued after a year. Today, none of our teachers use these books,” added the Principal.
Twitter also expressed its opinion with regard to it and in fact, the supporters started trending #RemoveMughalsFromBooks but users did not give a damn to the seriousness of the matter and used the hashtag for the sake of their own amusement!! And this is how hilarious the hashtag turned out to be!!
