Twitter Trolled Delhi’s Auto Drivers On Strike & Asked Them To Stay Off Roads Permanently

Taxi and auto unions of Delhi made up their mind of going on a strike for an indefinite period. It was on Tuesday that their strike began against Uber and Ola (app-based taxi services) and needless to say, a large number of travelers have suffered because of the same.

The strike is ordered by a Joint Action Committee which is formed by 20 unions of taxis & autos and which claims of around 15,000 yellow-black taxis and 85,000 autos going off the roads.

This strike is given the term “politically-motivated” by Delhi govt who is of the opinion that it’s not their domain to ban app-based cab services; however, there ought to be some action from the Centre regarding it.

In the words of All Delhi Auto-Taxi Transport Congress Union’s president Kishan Verma, “Uber and Ola don’t have permit to run their taxis in Delhi, but despite that the government is allowing them to take away our livelihood.”

Whereas Delhi Autorickshaw Sangh and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union’s general secretary Rajendra Soni affirms of no chances of discussion in this regard with Delhi govt, adding that Kejriwal dispensation would come to know “power of auto and taxi drivers.”

As per Rajendra Soni, “Government has assured us on several occasions that it will take action against app-based taxi services, but they have not fulfilled their commitment so far.”

It is the first time that all the auto and taxi unions which are associated with different political parties have decided to go on an indefinite strike together in Delhi.

According to a spokesman of Delhi govt, “We have already written to the Centre to block server of Uber, but the Union government said it cannot do so as its main server is in USA.”

The spokesman further added, “During the second phase of odd-even, the Chief Minister had also threatened to take action against app-based cab services over complaints of surge pricing.”

As usual, Twitter also reacted over the matter:

Let them be on strike forever!

I don't have to wait more than 5 minutes for OLA CABS and most of drivers are very well behaved , they own cars , are quite happy

it is a real boon to have OLA/UBER cars in DELHI & many people keep their cars in their homes & use these cars at economical rates
